Step 1

If you would like to get started in our program you will need to schedule a Private session with one of our certified pilates instructors. Pinecrest Pilates is focused on safety and ensuring that you have a positive experience during your first session. You will be given an overview of the movements that you will use in our pilates classes, you will learn how to use our equipment, and we will evaluate your body and make any necessary modifications that might be helpful to you in your future as a pilates student. Please call 305-232-2682 to schedule.

Step 2

Please print and complete our liability waiver and evaluation form and bring it with you to your first session.

Step 3

What to bring? Wear comfortable clothing that will not restrict your movement. You will be removing shoes and socks so flip flops or sandals are best. Bring 12 to 24 oz of water as we do not sell any at our location.

Please note that we do follow a strict 24 hour cancellation policy on all of our classes.

Benefits of Pilates

Traditional methods of training and developing the body tend to produce short, bulky muscles – precisely the type of musculature most prone to injury. Pilates elongates the spine, increasing the elasticity of muscles and the flexibility of joints. This balance between strength and flexibility drastically reduces the potential for injury while enhancing overall body fitness levels and physical wellbeing.

Pilates History

The Pilates Method of body conditioning was developed by German Joseph Pilates more than 70 years ago. For many years, Pilates training remained a well-kept secret in the world of dance and the performing arts. In recent years the growing interest in “mind/body” exercise has brought Pilates concepts to the forefront of fitness training.

Pilates to the Core

The Pilates Method comprises more than 500 exercises, performed as a mat-based workout or using special resistance equipment developed by Joseph Pilates.
